Bisharp (Rook)
Male
Ability: Defiant            Held item: Blackglasses
Moves:
Iron Head                    Slash
Brick Break                  Night Slash
I see Bisharp as a rival to Gallade since both have a type that's strong against one of the others and one that's weak to the other. I really liked his type combo and look. That's really about it.
A pretty standard move-set for a Bisharp with Brick Break being the anomaly. I taught it to him in case he ever went up against other Steel or Dark types. The Blackglasses just boost his Night Slash.

Excadrill (Rotor)
Male
Ability: Sand Rush        Held item: Leftovers
Moves:
Metal Claw                   Drill Run
Rock Slide                    Slash
A mole that finally evolved better digging tools for itself. Too awesome.
Like Bisharp, the move choices are simple. Yeah, I know I'm not taking advantage of his Ability by having him know Sandstorm because I want my team to be able to work well with anyone. Him knowing Sandstorm just for his ability would mean I could only use him with Bisharp and Golurk. His HP is actually pretty high in a post-nerf world, and his defensive stats aren't that great. That's where the Leftovers come in to give him a little extra resistance.

Sigilyph (Sigma)
Female
Ability: Wonder Skin    Held item: TwistedSpoon
Moves:
Psychic                       Fly
Air Slash                     Psybeam
This is one fascinating creature. It looks like a Native American carving/symbol come to life.
As much as I enjoy having varied moves, I can end up working fine with a limited move type pool.

Golurk (Otto)
Ability: Iron Fist            Held item: Spell Tag
Moves:
Hammer Arm                Bulldoze
Shadow Punch              Mega Punch
I love me some mystic automata/golems, and Golurk's bizarre type combo really intrigued me. I found the descriptions about him weird when it said he could fly, but after playing PokéPark 2 and a few anime scenes, I love his flight style.
I said I'm not tactical, but Golurk's got some strategy to him. I generally dislike moves that lower my own stats, but I've worked out a nice combo with Hammer Arm and Bulldoze. Hammer Arm lowers Golurk's Speed, but I can bring the opponent down with me since Bulldoze lowers their Speed. Again, I know I'm not using his Ability to its fullest, but half of his moves have Punch in them. I'm fine with that. Shadow Punch has decent power at 60. I thought it could do with some non-Ability improvement with the Spell Tag though.

Zekrom
Ability: Teravolt            Held item: Dragon Fang
Moves:
Dragon Claw                 Thunder Fang
Crunch                         Fusion Bolt
Zekrom's the legendary. Not much more to say about this other than I liked how he looked better than Reshiram.
I had him relearn a few physical moves to benefit from his high Attack stat.

Serperior (Bramble)
Male
Ability: Overgrow            Held item: Miracle Seed
Moves:
Slam                              Leaf Tornado
Leaf Blade                      Coil
I choose my starter based on their final form. It is what I'll end up looking at most after all. I could have just as easily gone with cute little Oshawott, but I felt like branching out from my usual Water choice. Maybe it was because of Empoleon's influence that I chose what would become a regal serpent. Or the fact that my brother already chose Oshawott.
Here's my second instance of strategery. Serperior's damaging moves are limited to Normal and Grass for the most part(Pursuit is too weak to really count), and the ones I let him keep are a little inaccurate. That's what Coil's for. It lets him charge up Leaf Blade and Slam if he's facing something either type is not very effective against while giving him the Defense to keep powering up. The accuracy boost helps Slam and Leaf Tornado find their marks every time. The Miracle Seed is also there to give his Grass moves a greater kick along with Coil.

Alternate Members

Gigalith (Tecton)
Male
Ability: Sturdy                  Held item: Quick Claw
Moves:
Smack Down                    Earthquake
Rock Slide                        Headbutt
My brother and I got our Gigaliths at the same time by trading each other our Boldores. The advantages of having a sibling with the opposite version, eh?
Despite the Ground moves, I kept sending Gigalith out against Electric types thinking he would be immune to them. I was thinking of Golem; can you blame me? Electric still affects Rock and gave him trouble.

Galvantula (Sparky)
Male
Ability: Unnerve                Held item: Magnet
Moves:
Electro Ball                       Electroweb
Signal Beam                     Slash
Joltik was tiny, fuzzy, and so cute. Galvantula still retains some cuteness but gets much bigger. I really did like this shocking spider, but he didn't last long in most battles. If he didn't get a knockout on his first or second move, his low defensive stats couldn't stand up to counterattacks.
I'm not really finished with his moves; I swapped him out before I could get the ones I wanted for him. While I can see the clever tactic of increasing Electro Ball's potential power with repeated Electrowebs being very effective, Galvantula's defensive stats aren't up to it. He can't tank a combination like that; it takes time and needs to be restarted with the next Pokémon sent out. Thunderbolt is more reliable. I planned to replace Signal Beam with Bug Buzz when he learned it.

Cofagrigus (Osiris)
Male
Ablity: Mummy                   Held item: none
Moves:
Will-O-Wisp                        Payback
Hex                                   Shadow Ball
This is the kind of spooky I like: scary but somewhat goofy. A stop-motion Tim Burton kind of scary, if you will. Yeah, Cofagrigus may have some disturbing Pokedex descriptions, but the part about eating gold is kinda funny. Imagine a Cofagrigus saying the "I love gooooooooold" line or trying to break in to Fort Knox for a feast. The wavy shadow arms look silly too.
Seems like a trend with me in White version is, "If I can't go varied, I'll go tactical." The strategy is obvious and straightforward here: burn with Will-O-Wisp and use Hex for double damage. His low Speed also means Payback will usually hit second, which doubles its damage as well.

Carracosta (Depp)
Male
Ability: Solid Rock                Held item: none
Moves:
Aqua Tail                             Rock Slide
Crunch                                Waterfall
Tirtouga was a cute little turtle with an easy to see pun name that brought Captain Jack Sparrow to mind. Carracosta looks like a monster Godzilla would fight. Two great attributes. That and I like turtles, mostly because my dad's an environmentalist.
The move-set is straightforward here, nothing too strange. I will say I wasn't happy with Aqua Tail's accuracy, so I taught Waterfall over Aqua Jet. His Attack is higher, and those were two of the very few physical Water moves at the time. And yes, looking back, losing Aqua Tail instead of Aqua Jet would have been the smarter thing to do.

Liepard
Female
Ability: Limber                       Held item: none
Moves:
Scratch                                 Pursuit
Hone Claws                           Fake Out
As you can probably tell by the moves, I didn't keep Liepard for very long, but long enough that I think she deserves to be listed. I changed her out sometime around the third Gym, I think. She was suffering from a similar problem that I'd have with Galvantula later on: negligible defensive stats and weak moves. I could use Hone Claws to give her some actual bite, but she couldn't take the hits while I was boosting her up or just took too many healing Items to keep her out until she was effective.
Yeah, the start of Pokémon nerfed. Admittedly there are some really cool new Pokemon, type combinations, and a pretty impactful Team. Really, Plasma seemed like they'd curb-stomp your Poke Balls if you lost.

There weren't many huge reasons for why I chose the Pokémon I did. I just thought they looked cool.

I know I said I don't like nicknaming my Pokémon, but I decided to include names that I'd tolerate if I REALLY had to have them. Guess why I chose some if you want. Hint: Golurk's is a real stretch. I might go back to my others and give them names too. This is also called White instead of Unova because my team in Black 2 is very different.

The  Pokémon series is owned by Nintendo and GAME FREAK.
